Meet The CW's New Superhero Black Lightning in New Trailers
TV

One of the trailers, titled 'Veins Trailer', sees Cress Williams' Jefferson Pierce a.k.a. Black Lightning getting struck by lightning through his whole body.

AceShowbiz - The CW will be having a new DC Comics superhero, Black Lightning, coming to the network in midseason. Ahead of the release of "Black Lightning", the network has offered a slew of trailers, giving a better look at Jefferson Pierce a.k.a. Black Lightning on its latest TV adaptation of DC Comics.

One of the trailers, titled "Veins Trailer", sees Cress Williams' Pierce getting struck by lightning through his whole body. Pierce, who is lying in what looks like a laboratory bed, can be seen groaning in pain in the 7-second video as the lightning runs through his veins.

The other trailer gives a better insight into our new superhero. The 40-second video sees Pierce, who left his crime-fighting days behind a decade ago, once again donning his suit to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Another character can be heard saying in voiceover, "Do you remember why you became Black Lightning? You wanted the veil that's out there to have something to fear." While scenes of Williams' Black Lightning being involved in intense fights are taking turn to flicker on the screen, the character continues saying, "You wanted to give the people hope."

The trailer concludes with a scene of Black Lightning jumping off a skyscraper and landing majestically at the top of car. "Black Lightning is back!" the character continues saying in voiceover.

In addition to giving a better look at Williams' masked vigilante, the trailer offers a brief glimpse of a slew of villainous characters on the upcoming series. Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III) and Syonide (Charlbi Dean Kriek) are seen walking menacingly down a staircase.

"Black Lightning" follows Jefferson Pierce, a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life and his family on the line, he left his Super Hero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce's crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, Black Lightning returns -- to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

The series, which marks the first black superhero show on The CW's Arrowverse, is slated to premiere on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 9 P.M. on The CW.
