Doctor Doom Is a Dream Role for Ben Mendelsohn
Movie

The rumored 'Captain Marvel' villain expresses his interest to be one of the greatest Marvel villains, Doctor Doom.

AceShowbiz - Ben Mendelsohn is undoubtedly one of Hollywood's best bad guy portrayers to date, and the actor said he would love to be one of the most iconic villains in comic history, Victor Von Doom. On MTV's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast with Josh Horowitz, the actor revealed his fondness for the "Fantastic Four" villain.

"Doctor Doom is the greatest comic character of all time. That's a great role. The thing that's really appealing about Victor is the damage and trauma, the loss of the family, the wrong done to him, then the revenge and the takeover. Then it's the protectiveness of Latveria wrapped in that Cold War vibe. What actually makes him great is his caring bit. That's what's great about Doctor Doom, and I just like him!" the actor enthusiastically explained.

Horowitz mentioned that at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Fox announced that they were planning on making a Doctor Doom solo film helmed by Noah Hawley. Mendelsohn was apparently aware about the development and keeping an eye on the project, saying, "Oh yeah, I'm aware of all this."

Doctor Doom was portrayed by two different actors. 2005's "Fantastic Four" had Julian McMahon, which didn't turn out to be a successful portrayal. Ten years later, Toby Kebbell got the chance to play the villain in "The Fantastic Four", but the movie was heavily chastised by critics. So far, there has been no successful attempt to bring Doctor Doom to life, and it's hard to think of anyone more perfect for the role than Mendelsohn.

However, even though Mendelsohn expressed his enthusiasm on playing Doctor Doom, the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" star is rumored to play another Marvel villain in "Captain Marvel" opposite Jude Law and Brie Larson. It's very likely that Mendelsohn will get the part, having previously worked with "Captain Marvel" directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck on "Mississippi Grind". The Emmy-winning actor didn't confirm or deny the rumors.
