The film about God of Thunder still tops the domestic box office in its second weekend, with 'Daddy's Home 2' and 'Murder on the Orient Express' debuting in the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.

AceShowbiz - "Thor Ragnarok" continues to be a massive box office success. The Disney/Marvel hit grosses $57.1 million in its second weekend of domestic release, bringing its 10-day North American total to $211.6 million.

The God of Thunder film grosses way ahead of previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, such as "Captain America: The First Avenger", $176M, "Ant-Man", $180M, and "Thor: The Dark World", $206M. Although the film's second box office weekend drops to 54|percent|, it is still smaller than "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", -55|percent|, "Ant Man", -56|percent|, and "Spider-Man: Homecoming", -62|percent|.

"Daddy's Home 2" and "Murder on the Orient Express" are competing for the runner-up spot, as they earned $29.7 million and $28.7 million, respectively. Both films are actually low in scores on Rotten Tomatoes. The former got a devastating 16|percent| and the latter got only 58|percent|. "Daddy's home" earned A-minus CinemaScore after an original B-plus, while "Orient Express" only got B. However, moviegoers seem to like the films, probably because of the star-studded cast power.

"Orient Express" is a mystery drama film based on Agatha Christie's 1934 novel that stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley among other big names. On the other hand, "Daddy's Home 2" is a comedy sequel that stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Mel Gibson.

The success of "Thor: Ragnarok", "Daddy's Home" and "Murder on the Orient Express" is good news in Hollywood after a stale and stagnant box office period. Upcoming films such as "Justice League" and Pixar's "Coco" may also put some spark into box office. As 20th Century Fox's president of domestic distribution, Chris Aronson, said, "It gives me an incredible injection of optimism for the future of our business. This is sumptuous, throwback Hollywood filmmaking and audiences responded to it."

Following the three mentioned films, R-rated comedy "A Bad Moms Christmas" manages to impress with its strong second weekend, dropping only 31|percent| to $11.5 million. Lionsgate's "Jigsaw" goes to the fifth place, dropping 48|percent| to $3.4 million.
