What if the worst day of your life was the only one you got to live? In this clever and darkly comedic horror thriller, college student Tree Gelbman, played by Jessica Rothe, wakes up with a killer hangover on her birthday, only to be murdered by a mysterious masked assailant before the day is done. To her terror, she then wakes up again, forced to relive the same fatal day over and over. Trapped in a terrifying time loop, the initially self-centered Tree must use each repeated cycle to piece together the clues to her own murder, scrutinizing everyone around her, including potential ally Carter Davis Israel Broussard and roommate Lori Ruby Modine. Directed by Christopher Landon, the film blends slasher suspense with a race-against-time mystery as Tree’s desperate investigation forces her to confront her own flaws and the hidden secrets of her campus. With each gruesome reset, she gets closer to unmasking her killer, but breaking the cycle might require more than just solving the crime.
