AceShowbiz - The long-awaited title to the upcoming Han Solo stand-alone film has finally been revealed. Director Ron Howard took to his Instagram and Twitter accounts on Tuesday, October 17 to announce the title of the "Star Wars" spin-off in addition to the production's wrap.
"I'd like to take this moment to thank an incredibly talented cast and crew for all their hard work," the 63-year-old filmmaker said, before clarifying, "Can we even say the name of the movie?" Chewbacca was then seen reaching in from off screen and handing the title card that read, "Solo: A Star Wars Story".

However, people over the internet are not having it. Shortly after Howard announced the title, many "Star Wars" fans took to the micro-blogging site to poke fun at it, with one of them even saying, "So lame."

As there's previously a "Star Wars" spin-off called "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" which starred Felicity Jones as the main heroine, another fan made fun of the official title of the Han Solo movie and tweeted, "Can't wait for 'Obi: A Star Wars Story'."

"c'mon, Howard, just give the audience what it wants," one said. Another sarcastically tweeted, "i love that disney chose to call it 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' instead of 'The Han Solo Movie,' which is what EVERYONE will say instead."

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight's reporter Ash Crossan tweeted, "oh... so.. this is a bit awkward," along with a video of her predicting the title when she had a brief interview with the Han Solo himself, Alden Ehrenreich, back in November 2016.

Howard stepped in as director in June after a shakeup mid-production found Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directing duo behind "21 Jump Street" and its sequel, leaving the project. The film has been in the works since 2015, with filming kicking off at the beginning of this year. Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon provided the screenplay.
The film is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 25 next year. Starring alongside Ehrenreich are Donald Glover as Han's friend Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor Beckett and Emilia Clarke as new character Kira. Other supporting cast members include Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, Warwick Davis, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Ian Kenny.
