The Khal Drogo depicter said in a 2011 Comic-Con panel that he loved being on the HBO show because he could 'rape beautiful women.'

AceShowbiz - Jason Momoa found himself landing in hot water after an old video of him during a Comic-Con panel for HBO's "Game of Thrones" resurfaced online. In the 2011 video, the Khal Drogo depicter made jokes about raping "beautiful women" on the hit medieval show.

"But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre because there are so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it and rape beautiful women," Jason said. His remarks made the crowd laugh at that time, while fellow cast members, including Lena Headey and Kit Harington, covered their faces in assumed embarrassment.

A Twitter user posted the video and wrote in the caption, "tw: rape. a horrific clip of jason momoa saying he loved working on #gameofthrones bc he 'got to rape beautiful women.' men are trash."

Following the criticism, the actor took to his Instagram account to officially address the issue and apologize for the "distasteful joke." The "Justice League" star wrote, "I awoke in Australia to the justified reactions by many people to a distasteful joke I made years ago in Hall H for which I am sorry. I am still severely disappointed in myself at the insensitivity of my remarks that day."

"I know my sincerest apology won't take away those hurtful words. Rape and sexual harassment can reach anyone and I have seen first hand its painful torment among members of my own family and friends," he went on writing. "I made a truly tasteless comment. It is unacceptable and I sincerely apologize with a heavy heart for the words I said. All apologies, Jason."

This came in the midst of an ongoing sexual harassment scandal involving Harvey Weinstein as several stars, including Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cara Delevingne, came forward to speak up against him. Just recently, Amazon Studios Chief Roy Price was suspended by the company following a claim that he sexually harassed a Hollywood producer by making a crude reference to "anal sex."
