Two decades after working together on 'Titanic', the 41-year-old actress and the famed filmmaker are reuniting for the sequel(s) to the 2009 sci-fi flick.

AceShowbiz - Kate Winslet and James Cameron are teaming up once again. Two decades after working together on epic romance-disaster "Titanic", the two Oscar winners are back at it for another massive production, the long-awaited sequel(s) to 2009's "Avatar".

Deadline is the first to report the casting news. Cameron told the site, "Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on 'Titanic', which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can't wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life."

Cameron began production on all four planned "Avatar" sequels last week in Manhattan Beach, California. He is directing from a script he co-wrote with Josh Friedman, best known as writer of TV series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and 2005's film adaptation of "War of the Worlds".

"Avatar 2" is set for a December 18, 2020 release in the United States, with "Avatar 3" set to follow on December 17, 2021. "Avatar 4" will arrive on December 20, 2024, while "Avatar 5" will be released on December 19, 2025. While details about the first sequel are still kept under wraps, it is said to follow a space marine going native with a race of blue alien Na'vi on the moon Pandora.

Cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder, Joel David Moore and Matt Gerald are all expected to return. Weaver originally appeared in the first film as Dr. Grace Augustine, a human who takes the side of the Na'vi and dies during the conflict. Though both the actress and Cameron confirmed her return for the sequels, she stated back in 2014 that she would not play the same character.

Winslet can soon be seen opposite Idris Elba in "The Mountain Between Us" which opens this Friday, October 6. She will next appear in Woody Allen's "Wonder Wheel" for Amazon which arrives on December 1. Her other credits include "Collateral Beauty", "Triple 9", "The Dressmaker" and "Steve Jobs".
