Gloria Carter revealed that the music mogul was tearing up when hearing her confession as he thought that it 'had to be horrible life' for her.

AceShowbiz - In June, Jay-Z revealed his mom was a lesbian on his new track called "Smile" off "4:44". And now, the rapper's mother Gloria Carter has broken her silence to dish on her sexuality and how she ended up helping her son make a song about it.

Speaking on D'USSE Podcast, Gloria shared that she made Jigga cry when she told him she was a lesbian. "Me and my son, we share a lot of information. So I was sitting there and I was telling him one day. I just finally started telling him who I was. 'Besides your mother, this is the person that I am, you know?' " she said.

" 'This is the life that I loved.' So my son started, actually, like, tearing because he was like, 'That had to be a horrible life, ma,' " she continued. "I was like, 'My life was never horrible. It was just different.' So that made him want to do a song about it."

"We talked about it and we talked about it. Then I was going out to see him, and I was on the plane, and I was like, 'OK, I'm going to help him.' I wrote [the poem] while I was on the plane going to L.A," Gloria shared. "When I got there, I was like, 'Yo, I'm going to help you along.' So I gave him this. So I said, 'Look at this' and he was like, 'Wow, you wrote this on the plane?' "

On "Smile", Gloria delivered her heartfelt poem. "Living in the shadow. Can you imagine what kind of life to live?" she recited. "In the shadows people see you as happy and fee, because that's what you want them to see. Living two lives, happy but not free. You love the shadows for fear of someone hurting your family or someone you love."

During a recent interview with iHeartRadio, Jay-Z said of the track, " 'Smile' is just what it is. There are gonna be bad times, and those bad times can do two things: they can get you in a place where you're stuck in a rut, or it can make your future that much better because you've experienced these things."

After Gloria came out of the closet, Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce Knowles couldn't be any prouder of her. "Gloria has never been happier since coming out on his new album," a source previously claimed. "Beyonce, Jay and the entire family have stood behind her and supported her as she made this brave decision to share her personal life with the world."
