The 47-year-old rapper explains why he and wife Beyonce decided to name their twins Sir and Rumi Carter.

AceShowbiz - Jay-Z has finally revealed the reasons behind his twins' names. "The Story of O.J." spitter, whose real name is Shawn Carter, explained in a new interview why he and his wife Beyonce Knowles decided to name their twins Sir and Rumi Carter.

Speaking to Elliot Wilson and Brian Miller during their Rap Radar podcast earlier this week, Jay said he and Bey named their son Sir because of the way the baby "carries himself." While daughter Rumi was named after the couple's favourite poet, Sir's moniker was chosen because of the way he "came out" when he was born.

"Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter," explained the 47-year-old music mogul. He continued, "Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that," adding, "He just came out, like, Sir."

Jay and Bey welcomed their twins in June. They also have five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who rapped a freestyle for one of the bonus tracks on his new album, "4:44". During the podcast interview published on Friday, August 25, Jay said, "I can't even listen to that song no more."

He shared, "I only listen to her freestyle, and then I'm like, 'I can't listen to this.' " He recalled, "She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping. I was like, 'Oh, s**t,' " adding, "I have [her full freestyle] on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that."

Following the release of his album, Jay will be heading out on tour in October. He admitted that he decided to save touring until later in the year so he could spend some quality time with his family without the pressures of being on the road.

Speaking in the second part of his Rap Radar podcast interview, the "Holy Grail" rapper said, "I booked the tour for October so I could have at least four months ... to just really bond and see their fingers and s**t like that."

The Roc Nation founder continued, "They'll be with me [on tour] anyway, but I'm just saying, like, [I needed] a space where I'm not doing nothing, I'm just focused on them. I'm not thinking about a show at night or anything like that" He concluded, "That's why the tour is so far away from the release of the album."
