AceShowbiz - John Mayer is single and ready to hook up with someone. The 39-year-old singer just hit on Erin Foster on Instagram. He jokingly tried to score a date with the daughter of fellow musician David Foster on the photo-sharing platform.

David posted a photo of him and his actress daughter to celebrate her 35th birthday on Wednesday, August 23. The 67-year-old captioned it, "one of the loves of my life and my fav daughter on this day!!! Happy bday @erinfoster #iloveyou."

John was quick to express his interest in Erin. Taking to the comment section, the 39-year-old singer boldly asked her legendary music producer dad who is also his friend, "Can you put a good word in for me?"

Neither of the Foster family members has responded to John's not-so-subtle request, but his plea might indicate that he's finally ready to move on from ex Katy Perry. And luckily for the Grammy-winning singer, Erin appears to be single.

John and Katy dated on and off from 2012 to 2014. John recently admitted that Katy inspired "Still Feel Like Your Man", a hit song off of his album "The Search for Everything". "Who else would I be thinking about?" the "Who You Love" singer told The New York Times back in March.

He continued, "And by the way, it's a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship," before adding, "So it's like, give me this, people."

In June, Katy made headlines when she ranked her famous exes by their sexual performances. Though John reigned supreme, he didn't give much thought to it. "I don't have a cool-enough thought for you," he told Rolling Stone later that month when asked to comment on the list.

"I've hacked this game. I pay very little of the price of fame now," he added. "I get to play the music that moves me the most. I'm having the time of my life. I'm 39 -- I remember 32. I don't wanna do it again."
