Even after being canceled by ABC earlier this year, it seems like "Last Man Standing" is not dead yet. Following the report that said the show would seek new home, the show's producer 20th Century Fox Television and CMT reportedly are in early stage of discussion to revive the show.

According The Hollywood Reporter, the country-themed network "is exploring if it can revive the expensive show at a price point that works for the niche cable network." However, it is currently unclear if the deal will be closed as the revival may be fairly expensive since the veteran show has six seasons of contracts behind. As for how big the revival may get, both a short order and multiple-season/20-episode run order have been rumored.

20th TV reportedly has reached out to the writers of the series for the potential revival, though the cast has not been approached. The studio seemingly will move to pick up the actors once the deal is sealed. Should CMT revive "Last Man Standing", it marks the second time CMT revives a canceled ABC show after "Nashville".

ABC surprised everyone, including Tim Allen who said that he was blindsided by the network, by canceling the Tim-starring multicamera comedy after six seasons. Fans of the show widely expressed outrage, alleging that the cancellation was heavily affected by Tim's openly right-wing views and the show's conservative political tones. ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey, however, denied the allegation and said that it was, instead, a scheduling decision.
