David Thewlis Shares Interesting Details About His Character in 'Wonder Woman'
Movie

While most people believe that Thewlis will portray Ares under the pseudonym Sir Patrick Morgan, Thewlis suggests that Sir Patrick and Ares have completely different goals.

AceShowbiz - A slew of behind-the-scenes interviews with "Wonder Woman" cast members have arrived online and David Thewlis has shared interesting details about his mysterious role in the upcoming movie. The "Harry Potter" actor has been assumed to play the villainous Ares, under the pseudonym Sir Patrick Morgan, but Thewlis hasn't actually stated that the two are the same person.

In fact, Thewlis suggests that Sir Patrick has completely different goals with the big bad Ares. "Sir Patrick's entire drive through the other half of the story is to bring about the armistice," says Thewlis in the interview. "That's his whole intention no matter what's going on. He meets Diana and see in her somebody who is sympathetic to his cause quite vehemently so," he adds.

Judging from Thewlis' statement, it seems unlikely that Sir Patrick and Ares are the same person, since Sir Patrick sounds to be a peace-loving person and the latter is the true personification of war. However, it can be that Thewlis still keeps his character's real goal under wraps. It is also speculated that Sir Patrick may intentionally want to delude Diana (Gal Gadot) into believing him before making a big surprise in the end.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny.

Also starring in "Wonder Woman" are Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Ewan Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lisa Loven Kongsli. The superhero movie is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on June 2.
