Sophie Turner has landed in hot water after appearing to use N-word in a recent Instagram video. Shared on Tuesday, May 9, the video showed the Sansa Stark of "Game of Thrones" inside a fitness studio while greeting her pals with the alleged offensive word as seemingly saying, "What's up, n***a?"
Also seen in the video, which has since been deleted, were her singer beau Joe Jonas and a male pal, presumably a personal trainer. The two hunky guys were laughing upon hearing the 21-year-old British actress supposedly say the offensive word.
It sounded a lot like the N-word, and the video sent internet into a frenzy that morning. "Why does Sophie Turner have to be so gross?" one user wrote, while another said, "Sophie Turner saying the n word so casually and Joe Jonas laughing about it really says something."
Turner angrily denied the accusation later that day. "I used the word 'motherf**kers' in a recent video posted in an Instagram story and not a hateful racial slur that has been suggested," she explained in a statement. "I am incredibly upset that anyone would think otherwise," she added. "I want to make it clear that I would never use such an abhorrent word."
