AceShowbiz - NBC has decided to renew its new midseason series "Taken" for a sophomore season. The second season of the prequel to the Liam Neeson-starring feature film of the same name will reportedly consist of 16 episodes.
For its upcoming second season, "Taken" will undergo some changes as showrunner Alexander Cary ("Homeland") has exited the series. A search for a new showrunner is reportedly underway.
The Monday drama averages a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 demo and 7.0 million viewers overall in Live+7. It nabs No. 2 spot among ABC, CBS and NBC in its Monday 10-11 P.M. slot in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key measures.
"Taken" chronicles the early years of former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. "As he fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills."
"Taken" joins the previously-renewed shows on NBC which include "This Is Us", "Shades of Blue" and "Superstore". Also among 2017-2018 season lineup on the network are "The Good Place" and "Will & Grace" revival.
"Taken" season 1 finale airs on Monday, May 15 at 10 P.M. on NBC.
