'Dancing with the Stars' Sees Shocking Double Elimination on Movie Night

That night episode features Mandy Moore as the guest judge as well as an epic performance from the cast of Disney Channel's upcoming original movie titled 'Descendant 2'.

AceShowbiz - "Dancing with the Stars" season 24 aired its seventh episode on Monday, May 1. The episode, which was themed "A Night at the Movies", sees the seven remaining pair dancing routines inspired by different movie genres, starting from Sci-fi to Horror. One couple received immunity, while the rest competed in a Dance-Off before double elimination took place.

Bringing Western movie genre, Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess danced Paso Doble to "Rodeo-Four Dance Episodes (Instrumental): IV. Hoedown" by Aaron Copland. They performed several gimmicks which included breaking chairs and bottles. Despite the passionate performance, judge Carrie Ann Inaba still felt that they "got a little lost" and didn't "matched up to the Paso." The professional bull rider earned 29 out of 40 points.

Performing next were Nancy Kerrigan and her pro-dancer partner Artem Chigvintsev. The pair brought Romantic Comedy genre to the ballroom by dancing Tango to "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison. Guest judge Mandy Moore gushed Nancy, saying that she looked beautiful that night. All of the judges gave each 9 points to the couple, making Nancy earning satisfying 37 out of 40 points.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber opted for Silent Films, dancing Charleston to Bob Wilson & His Varsity Rhythm Boys' "Charleston". Judges seemed to love their performance as Bruno Tonioli said, "It had the fun and sparkle of a flapper." Judges gave Sasha 37 points.

Before moving on to the next couple, the cast of the Disney Channel original movie "Descendants 2" were taking over the ballroom. Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart took the stage to perform "Rotten to the Core, Ways to Be Wicked" medley.

Former "The Bachelor" star Nick Viall performed a "fantastic" Action/Argentine Tango with pro-dancer Peta Murgatroyd. They danced to "Dangerous" by David Guetta ft. Sam Martin. Mandy gushed, "I stopped watching Nick and start watching a dancer." The reality TV star got 34 points.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater created a Horror movie atmosphere as they danced Paso Doble to "O Fortuna (Fr Carmina Burana)" by Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg & Kurt Prestel. Len Goodman said, "The music was epic and so was the dancing full of passion," before adding, "Overall another solid performance." Rashad earned 37 points.

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold opted for Sci-fi themed performance, dancing Salsa to "Universal Mind Control (UMC)" by Common. Mandy felt that David was "a little flat in your feet." David earned 32 points.

Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy danced Argentine Tango to "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas" by Andrea Bocelli ft. Jennifer Lopez as they chose Foreign Films movie genre. It was such a splendid performance and Bruno praised, "The academy award for best dance goes to you and Val." With no surprise, the Fifth Harmony member earned perfect 40 out of 40 points and immunity.

The other couples who didn't get the immunity had to dance in for additional judges' points to avoid getting sent back home in double elimination later at the end of the episode. Simone defeated Nancy in the Cha-Cha, while Rashad bested David when both danced Jive. Nick had to acknowledge that Bonner did better in the Rumba as the latter defeated Nick.

Now it came to the Double Elimination time. The first safe couple was Simone and Sasha. Rashad and Emma, and Borner and Sharna joined Simone and Sasha as they were announced safe that night. Left in jeopardy were Nick and Peta, Nancy and Artem as well as David and Lindsay. Two of the three couples had to bid farewell to the ballroom. Later, it was announced that couples Nick and Peta and Nancy and Artem were eliminated.
