Emma Stone is asked to prom by Jacob Staudenmaier, a high schooler from her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. With the help of his friends, the teenager suits up and recreates a musical intro from her critically-acclaimed movie "La La Land".

The Arcadia High School student says he will be the "coolest guy around" in the "valley of the sun" if she says yes. "Maybe I could buy you dinner it'll make my night and maybe make yours too," he sings. "Emma Stone if you came I think I'd go insane."

"People say I look like Ryan Gosling and maybe that's a bit far-fetched. Please don't let me know. It'd be in your hometown," the 17-year-old junior quips before adding, "I know my voice ain't great, but please be my prom date."

Staudenmaier explains, "I rewrote the lyrics to the song myself and directed the video and did the choreography too, but thank you so much to all the friends and adults who came out to help make it happen."

He tells USA Today, "I haven't heard anything specifically from her. I've heard a rumor and sort of a confirmed truth that her mom has seen it. I assume at some point it will get to her." He adds to ABC News, "Whether she says yes or no I think just a response in general would be amazing, but I guess if she did say yes then that would be the best outcome possible. But either way I've enjoyed everything that's happened so far."
