'Aquaman' is set to be released two months later than its original schedule, while 'Venom' moves up to 'Aquaman' original slot.

AceShowbiz - "Aquaman" will hit U.S. theaters a little later than it was initially planned. The release date of the DC and Warner Bros. film starring Jason Momoa moves from October 5, 2018 to December 21, 2018. The slot was originally occupied by "Avatar 2", which release date has also been pushed back to an unknown date.

"Aquaman", therefore, will have a showdown with Sony's untitled animated Spider-Man movie. The animated film, which is not affiliated with Marvel Cinematic Universe, will feature an animated version of Spider-Man and will also be released on December 21, 2018.

Sony has also changed the release date of its other project, "Venom", which will center on the titular Spider-Man's nemesis. The film's release date moves up to "Aquaman" original slot on October 5, 2018.

"Aquaman" follows the story of Arthur Curry, a half-man and half-Atlantean who leads Atlantic Ocean and tries to gain his glory. Enters his half brother, Orm, who is as powerful and creating a hindrance that puts everything in havoc. Aquaman is obliged to prevent his evil half-brother from snatching his empire of high seas. Also starring in "Aquaman" are Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.

"Venom" will reportedly be helmed by Alex Kurtzman, who also directed "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "The Mummy". Meanwhile, the cast for "Venom" hasn't been announced yet. Although the movie is putting a highlight on Spider-Man's enemy Venom, it is reportedly unrelated to the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" which stars Tom Holland.
