'Doctor Strange' Director Teases Possible Villains in Sequel

During a Q and A session with fans on Twitter, director Scott Derrickson tweeted that Clea and Nightmare would be the possible villains for the sequel.

AceShowbiz - "Doctor Strange" director Scott Derrickson has just revealed possible villains for the movie's sequel. During a Q&A session on Twitter, a fan asked Derrickson about which villain he was considering for the sequel and Derrickson later gave his answer.

"Possibly Nightmare, but he's a tricky villain to get right. And you can't tell the story of 'Doctor Strange' w/out eventually dealing w/Clea," wrote Derrickson.

The names are surely familiar to Marvel fans. Clea is Strange's love interest who rules over the Dark Dimension. Nightmare, meanwhile, is a terrifying villain who was originally meant to be featured in the first "Doctor Strange" movie, but Derrickson and Marvel Head Kevin Feige decided to keep the villain out instead.

"Kevin [Feige] made a very cogent case," Derrickson told Empire last year. "The trouble with starting with Nightmare is getting across the idea of the Dream Dimension as another dimension. The movie was challenging enough. It's already an exposition-heavy movie.... Dormammu made the most sense. And he is the most present villain in the comics," he added.

The villains featured in the first "Doctor Strange" movie were Kaecilius and dark being Dormammu. Nightmare will darken the mood of "Doctor Strange" sequel should he appear in it. The villain is the overseer of the Nightmare and Dream Dimension whom Doctor Strange faces down several times in comics.

Doctor Strange was portrayed by %cBenedict Cumberbatch% in the first movie. The sorcerer will return in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Avengers: Infinity War", which will be released in November 2017 and May 2018 respectively.
