Siddig, who used to perform under the name Siddig El Fadil, is cast as the head of the League of Shadows on FOX's 'Gotham'.

AceShowbiz - Alexander Siddig joins the other cast members of FOX's "Gotham" in a recurring role. Siddig is set to star on the series as supervillain Ra's al Ghul, the head of the League of Shadows.

The DC supervillain will make its debut on "Gotham" at the end the current third season. As Bruce (David Mazouz) pulls the veil off the Court of Owls, he finds the man pulling the strings is the enigmatic and powerful Ra's al Ghul. With his past shrouded in mystery, Ra's al Ghul uses cunning and deception to lay waste to his foes. As the leader of an international criminal organization known as the League of Shadows, Ra's al Ghul will prove himself to be Bruce's most dangerous adversary yet.

Ra's al Ghul previously appeared on The CW's "Arrow", portrayed by Matt Nable, across 10 episodes in 2014-2015. While "Gotham" is also produced by Warner Bros. TV, it doesn't share the same universe with "Arrow". Fans are eager to see how the iconic DC Comics villain is portrayed in such a rare instance where a certain character appears on both different series and networks within a short amount of time.

Siddig joins other "Gotham" cast members, including Benjamin McKenzie (Detective James Gordon), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Michael Chiklis (Detective Nathaniel Barnes) and Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman). The series also stars Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox and Jamie Chung as Valerie Vale.

Siddig starred in all seven seasons of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" as Dr. Julian Bashir. The actor recently played Prince Doran Martell on HBO's hit "Game of Thrones". Meanwhile, his big screen credits include "Syriana" and "Kingdom of Heaven".

Currently in late winter break, "Gotham" returns to FOX on Monday, April 24 at 8 P.M. with all new episodes of the rest of its third season.
