As the premiere date is approaching, NBC offers us a new sneak peek of its upcoming series, "Taken", which is a prequel to the "Taken" movie franchise. The video features the opening scene which reveals how and why Clive Standen as young Bryan Mills, a character made famous by Liam Neeson, gets involved with cartel boss Carlos Mejia (Louis Ferreira).

The sneak peek opens with a heartwarming scene featuring Bryan and his sister Cali (Celeste Desjardins) taking a train to meet their parents. Bryan is seen trolling an older man who takes a secret glance at his little sister. "Beautiful, huh?" he says to the man, much to his surprise. Then he continues, "The countryside.." He puts a little smile when he succeeds to make the man bewildered with his sudden remarks.

But then, Bryan spots two suspicious guys entering the train. One of the guys, wearing a leather jacket and a cap, sits somewhere far in front of him, while the other walks past him by and Cali to sit several seats behind him. He keeps checking on them with full suspicion in his eyes.

By the time they arrive at Hartford station, Bryan decides to take action and catch the two guys before too late. He says to Cali, "I need you to do exactly as I say, no time for questions. Just listen." He continues saying while keeping his voice low, "They start walking down this car, I want you to grab that backpack there. See it?" He adds, "And when the guy tells you it's his, you argue with him and you keep it going until I either come back or I shout your name. If I shout your name, you get down. Fast as you can, you crawl into a space between those seats."

Cali does exactly as he says, while Brian walks toward the capped guy. The guy is seen putting one of his hands under his jacket. Brian quickly shouts Cali's name and attacks the guy shortly after. He uses the guy's gun which he hides under the jacket to shoot the other guy. The two are later involved in an intense fight, making everyone in the train panicked and scream in fear. When Brian knocks the guy down, he comes back to see his sister, only to find her lying down on the floor unconscious.

The murder of his sister later will send Bryan into a dangerous mission for revenge against cartel boss Carlos Mejia. A secret U.S. intelligence agency, led by Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals), covertly uses Bryan as bait to capture Mejia, and in the end recruits Bryan to become a part of their team. The series also stars Gaius Charles (John), Brooklyn Sudano (Asha Flynn), Monique Gabriela Curnen (Becca Vlasik), Michael Irby (Scott), Jose Pablo Cantillo (Dave) and James Landry Hebert (Rem).

Directed by Alex Graces, the series is written by Alex Cary ("Homeland"). Cary also exec produces alongside Luc Besson, Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vessine and Thomas Anargyos.

NBC will premiere the first episode of "Taken" on Monday, February 27 at 10 P.M. ET.
