John Ortiz ("A Dog's Purpose", "God Particle", "Kong: Skull Island", "Fast and Furious 6") is set to star on Kurt Sutter's "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off "Mayans MC". Ortiz will portray Esai "Taino" Osorio, President of Mayans MC for Santo Padre Charter.

Described as a Mexi-Rican, Taino was born in Bronx. He was sent to Oakland to live with his cousin, Marcus Alvarez, who is also a founder and National President of Mayans MC. Like his cousin, Taino is as smart as he is deadly.

Co-created by Sutter and Elgin James, "Mayans MC" will take place in the aftermath of Jax Teller's death in the season seven finale of "Sons of Anarchy". The spin-off will follow EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border, who struggles with his vow of vengeance against cartel, and his need for respect from the women he loves.

Ortiz joins previously-announced cast members Clayton Cardenas and Edward James Olmos. Ortiz's TV credits include HBO's dramas "Togetherness" and "Luck", as well as CBS' drama "Medium", "Clubhouse" and NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit".
