'Wonder Woman' Releases Ares Toy, David Thewlis Reportedly Plays the Villain
Movie

Ares was revealed in the form of action figure at New York Toy Fair and 'Harry Potter' actor David Thewlis is speculated to portray Wonder Woman's nemesis.

AceShowbiz - "Wonder Woman" villain Ares hasn't been featured in trailers yet, but at least people can get first look at his action figure. On February 19, Ares toy was revealed at the 2017 New York Toy Fair alongside other "Wonder Woman" toys, which include Gal Gadot's Diana Prince and Chris Pine's Steve Trevor.

According to Batman-News.com, Ares will be portrayed by David Thewlis, who is best known for his role as Professor Remus Lupin in the "Harry Potter" movie series. The site also reports that Ares will be a mix of CGI and practical effects.

Thewlis has long been announced as one of "Wonder Woman" cast members, but his role is still kept under wraps. Danny Huston, meanwhile, has also been long-speculated to play Diana Prince's nemesis. There hasn't been official announcement from either DC or Warner Bros. about who plays the villain, though.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny.

Also starring in "Wonder Woman" are Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Ewan Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lisa Loven Kongsli. The superhero movie is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on June 2.
