Mel Gibson Confirms 'Suicide Squad 2' Talks
Movie

The 'Hacksaw Ridge' director says his negotiation with Warner Brothers about the second 'Suicide Squad' movie is still 'kind of a first date.'

AceShowbiz - Mel Gibson responded to the internet chatters suggesting that he's in early negotiations to direct "Suicide Squad" sequel. He was asked during a screening of his latest directorial movie "Hacksaw Ridge" if it's "close to a deal" or it is still "a first date," and he replied, "It's kind of a first date."

If Gibson inks the deal, he will replace David Ayer who is now moving on to the all-female DC villain movie "Gotham City Sirens" starring Harley Quinn depicter Margot Robbie. If he passes the project, Warner Brothers has already had Jonathan Levine ("The Night Before"), Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland"), and Daniel Espinosa ("Life") lined up to fill in the spot.

Rumors about Mel Gibson joining the DC Extended Universe somewhat come as a surprise since the actor/director trashed Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". He said last year, "It's a piece of s**t."

Despite his harsh comment on WB's comic book movie, Gibson has reportedly been trying to do a movie with Deadshot depicter Will Smith. The two once eyed "The Accountant", but the movie eventually went to Gavin O'Connor and the new Batman depicter Ben Affleck.
