The late singer's mom, dad and brother have filed a lawsuit against promoter AEG Live as well as the owner of the venue where her shooting took place back in June.

AceShowbiz - Christina Grimmie's family is suing over her death. Months after the singer was fatally shot during her concert in Orlando over the summer, her estate filed a lawsuit against promoter AEG Live. Also listed as defendant is The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Plaza Foundation, the owner of the venue where the incident happened.

In the suit filed Tuesday, December 20 in Florida and obtained by Billboard, Grimmie's dad, mom and brother allege wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress caused by the 22-year-old songbird's shooting.

The Grimmies also accuse the defendants of failing to take "adequate security measures to ensure the safety of the performers and the attendees at the concert venue." They claim that the venue's people only performed "superficial bag checks" on attendees. There were no body pat downs or metal detectors which could prevent concertgoers from bringing weapons into the theater.

Grimmie was shot during a meet and greet at her concert on June 10 by a man named Kevin Loibl. The man, who entered the venue with two 9mm Glock handguns, two full magazines and a large hunting knife, killed himself after Grimmie's brother Marcus took him down.

Noting that the former "The Voice" contestant "provided financial support to her parents" prior to her tragic passing, her family now requests a recovery of future support the singer would have provided to her family members, her projected income after taxes had she lived to normal life expectancy and any medical and funeral expenses.
