New 'Transformers: The Last Knight' Poster Hints at Optimus Prime's Dark Turn

Optimus Prime is apparently willing to sacrifice everything he holds dear in "Transformers: The Last Knight". In a new poster shared on the movie's Instagram account, he is seen wielding his massive sword while standing next to what appears to be the hand of a sprawling Bumblebee.

The poster comes after the first trailer was released last week, featuring Optimus who tries to kill the beloved yellow Autobot. Coming along with a tagline which reads, "Rethink your heroes," the gloomy poster suggests that the very wise Autobots leader will turn bad in the follow-up to "Transformers: Age of Extinction".

Directed by Michael Bay, the fifth "Transformers" movie follows Optimus Prime who finds his home planet, Cybertron, now a dead planet. Thinking that he's responsible for its demise, he finds a way to bring the planet back to life. However, in order to do so he needs to find an artifact on Earth.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is set to be released in U.S. theaters on June 23, 2017. The action flick also sees the return of Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro and John Goodman. Other cast members include Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner and Anthony Hopkins.
