In addition to serving as a creative producer, the Tony Award-winning actor/musician will compose original music for the big-screen and small-screen adaptations of Pat Rothfuss' fantasy novel series.

AceShowbiz - Lin-Manuel Miranda has signed on to produce Lionsgate's "The Kingkiller Chronicle" feature film and TV series adaptations. TheWrap brings the words that the Tony Award-winning actor/musician will also compose original music for the big-screen and small-screen adaptations of Pat Rothfuss' fantasy novel series.

Miranda, who has an option to be involved in "any future stage" adaptations, will produce the projects along with Robert Lawrence and the author, who serves as an exec producer for both the movie and TV series. The screenplay for the movie is provided by Lindsey Beer based on the first book, "The Name of the Wind", while Miranda and Rothfuss will develop new characters and storylines for the TV series.

Of working on the new projects with Rothfuss, Miranda said, "It's a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest. Pat also writes about the act of MAKING music more beautifully than any novelist I've ever read. I can't wait to play a part in bringing this world to life onscreen."

Since published in 2007, the novel series has sold ten million copies, with the first two books - "The Name of Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear"- becoming New York Times bestsellers. "Kingkiller", which is also said to be the best-selling fantasy novel behind "Game of Thrones", is about a charismatic wizard called Kvothe who survives a tragic childhood.
