"Mission: Impossible 6" has got a release date. Paramount Pictures has announced that the follow-up to "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" is officially scheduled to arrive in theaters across the U.S. on July 27, 2018, with Tom Cruise reprising his role as the iconic IMF agent, Ethan Hunt.
Additionally, the studio announces the release date for Alexander Payne's "Downsizing". The dramedy starring Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig as a married couple who tries to escape their money problems will open during the Christmas four-day holiday on December 22, 2017.
Meanwhile, the late July release date for the sixth installment of the "Mission: Impossible" movie franchise will put it up against James Cameron's "Alita: Battle Angel". The fantasy flick starring Rosa Salazar, Keean Johnson, Christoph Waltz, Ed Skrein and Jackie Earle Haley is coming a week earlier on July 20, 2018.
Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the screenplay and directed "Rogue Nation", has signed on to direct the sixth movie and has been penning the script with Cruise. Rebecca Ferguson will be back as undercover agent Ilsa Faust. Rumor has it, Jeremy Renner will once again reprise his role as William Brandt.
