The former 'Spider-Man' actor and his wife decide to end their nearly-decade-long marriage after 'much soul searching and consideration.'

Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer, a jewelry designer, are going their separate ways. The couple throws in the towel after nine years of marriage. They share two young children together, 9-year-old daughter Ruby and 7-year-old son Otis.
"After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple," they told PEOPLE in a joint statement. "As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship."
Maguire, 41, and Meyer, 39, first met in 2003. They were engaged in 2006. "Let's just say this is truly the best time of my life. I'm walking on air. I'm getting married, starting a family and have an amazing company," Meyer told USA Today back then.
The couple then got married in Kona, Hawaii in 2007. "Growing up the way I did," he said referring to his rocky childhood, "I had a very serious ambition to make some money, to have some security and comfort in my life."
