While Nebula has a small role in "Guardians of the Galaxy", she is set to have larger presence when she is back in next year's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". And now James Gunn even says that he would like to see the blue-skinned assassin daughter of Thanos getting her own solo movie.

The helmer responded to a fan on Twitter who said that Karen Gillan's bad-ass character "should lead" her own film. "I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film," he wrote on the Sunday, October 16 post. "It's something I've thought about from the beginning."

Back in September, Gunn said that the relationship between Nebula and her sister Gamora would be explored deeply in the sequel. "Because Zoe Saldana comes in and she is so wonderfully beautiful as her character [Gamora]. It's touching," he said. "And Karen Gillan as Nebula comes in, and she's her sister, and she's completely a much deeper character than we got in the first movie, so we get to know her."

"The first movie was really about becoming a family. This movie is about being a family. And what's harder, becoming a family or being a family? I think it's being a family," Gunn added. "And that's what this movie is about. And they are sisters. They are family, whether they like it or not. And they also want to kill each other, so it adds a new twist to being a sister."

Additionally, it was reported earlier this year that Nebula would join the Guardians team, along with Michael Rooker's Yondu as well as new character Mantis (Pom Klementieff), in the sequel.

Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel will reprise their roles as Star-Lord, Drax and the voices of Rocket and Groot respectively. The movie is coming in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
