The biggest prize at this year's London Film Festival went to "Certain Women" directed by Kelly Reichardt. The drama starring Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern, Michelle Williams and Jared Harris took home the coveted best feature film at the annual event.
Steve McQueen was a special honoree at the gala. The director received the British Film Institute Fellowship from Michael Fassbender who starred in all three of the filmmaker's movies, "Hunger", "Shame" and "12 Years a Slave".
"There's only two things I'm sure about: One, I'm black ... Two, I'm a Londoner," the helmer said. "I had freedom because society allowed me to have that freedom. It seems that that freedom is being slowly eradicated. It's our job to fight to keep those doors open."
French director Julia Ducournau's "Raw" won best first feature. Iranian director Mehrdad Oskouei's portrait of young inmates, "Starless Dreams" was named best documentary. Syrian photographer Issa Touma's "9 Days - From My Window in Aleppo" won best short film.
