Jay-Z is reportedly teaming up with NBC to produce a new drama about Nicholas Irving, the first African-American to serve as a special ops sniper in his battalion, and the US Army 3rd Ranger Battalion's deadliest sniper.

According to Page Six, the actor who will star as Nicholas Irving is "The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" star Sterling K. Brown, who won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role as Christopher Darden.

The six-hour miniseries is reportedly based on Nicholas Irving's 2015 memoir, "The Reaper: Autobiography of One of the Deadliest Special Ops Snipers." The rights to the book were picked up by the Weinstein Company, which just announced a first-look deal with Jay-Z.

A source reveals, "The series will take a look inside the life of the world of special ops. The plan is to start filming early next year."

Representatives for Jay-Z, Weinstein and NBC haven't commented on the report yet.
