'Wonder Woman' Writer Confirms Diana Prince Is 'Obviously' Bisexual

It's a big surprise for some of DC movie fans after Greg Rucka himself confirms that Diana Prince has relationships with other women on the female-only island of Themyscira.

AceShowbiz - Comic book readers might not be surprised after several news reporting Wonder Woman's sexual orientation emerged online. However, it's a big surprise for some of DC movie fans after comic book writer Greg Rucka himself told Comicosity that Diana Prince "obviously" had relationships with women.

"When you start to think about giving the concept of Themyscira its due, the answer is, 'How can they not all be in same-sex relationships?' Right? It makes no logical sense otherwise," Rucka explained about the character's origins on the female-only island. "It's supposed to be paradise. You're supposed to be able to live happily."

"You're supposed to be able - in a context where one can live happily, and part of what an individual needs for that happiness is to have a partner - to have a fulfilling, romantic and sexual relationship," he said. "And the only options are women. But an Amazon doesn't look at another Amazon and say, 'You're gay.' They don't. The concept doesn't exist."

"Now, are we saying Diana has been in love and had relationships with other women? As Nicola [Scott] and I approach it, the answer is obviously yes," the writer pointed out. "But perhaps foremost among them is, if no, then she leaves paradise only because of a potential romantic relationship with Steve [Trevor]."

He went on to say that the Amazonian Princess didn't leave because of Steve. "That diminishes her character. It would hurt the character and take away her heroism," the writer explained. "She leaves because she wants to see the world and somebody must go and do this thing. And she has resolved it must be her to make this sacrifice."

DC's upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie stars Gal Gadot as the titular superhero. Chris Pine is set to play Steve in the big-screen version. The Patty Jenkins-directed flick also stars Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis and Danny Huston. It's coming to U.S. theaters on June 2, 2017.
