John Carpenter Shares Brutal Thoughts on 'Halloween' Remake, Slams Rob Zombie

The legendary horror filmmaker calls Zombie, who directed the 2007 remake of his classic slasher film 'Halloween', a 'piece of s**t' who lied about him.

AceShowbiz - John Carpenter has some harsh words for Rob Zombie, who directed the 2007 remake of "Halloween". In a recently surfaced video, the legendary horror filmmaker slammed the 51-year-old director/musician when speaking to a group of students at the New York Film Academy.

"So they interviewed him on that Biography channel. And he lied about me," Carpenter said of Zombie, referencing a previous interview in which Zombie talked about Carpenter's blessing to the remake. "He said I was very cold to him when he told me he was going to make it. Nothing could be further from the truth."

He recalled, "I said 'make it your own movie man,' you know. 'This is yours now, don't worry about me.' I was incredibly supportive. Why that piece of s**t lied, I don't know. He had no reason to. Why did he do it?"

Carpenter also admitted that he's not a fan of Zombie's take on his classic slasher film. "I thought he took away the mystique of the story by explaining too much about [Michael Myers]," the 68-year-old filmmaker explained. "I don't care about that. He's supposed to be a force of nature, he's supposed to be almost supernatural, and he was too big, it wasn't normal."

A new "Halloween (2017)" movie was announced in development earlier this year, with Carpenter on board as executive producer. "Thirty-eight years after the original 'Halloween' I'm going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all," he said in a statement.
