Hot Rod, who is the first generation of Autobot, will join Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in the fifth installment of 'Transformers' film series.

New teaser image for "Transformers: The Last Knight" has been released. The picture unveils a first look at a long time fan-favorite Autobot that is finally getting his live-action debut in the fifth "Transformers" film. Ready to appear alongside Optimus Prime and Bumblebee is Hot Rod, who is also the first generation of the Autobots.
There is no information on what kind of vehicle he might transform into. Detail provided in the picture describes him as a "brash and slightly arrogant" protector and Bumblebee's "brother-in-arms." The caption of the picture reads, "Tough, tenacious, and all tricked out."
In the 1986 animated film "The Transformers: The Movie", Hot Rod acquires the Matrix of Leadership (introduced in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen") from Optimus Prime which transforms him into Rodimus Prime - the new leader of the Autobots. In the upcoming film, Hot Rot will join the roster of Autobots including Drift and Vespa Squeeks.
Mark Wahlberg returns to the fifth film as the main hero, Josh Duhamel is set to reprise his role as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, Tyrese Gibson also returns to play Richard Epps and Peter Cullen once again lends his voice to Optimus Prime. Directed by Michael Bay, the upcoming flick also stars Isabela Moner, Anthony Hopkins, Jerrod Carmichael and Santiago Cabrera.
The fifth installment of the "Transformers" movie series will hit U.S. theaters on June 23, 2017. A Bumblebee spin-off and "Transformers 7" are expected to follow on June 8, 2018 and June 28, 2019 respectively.
