Selena Gomez is apparently too sexy for Malaysia. Pan Islamic Party (PAS) Youth in the country wants Selena's upcoming "Revival Tour" at the Stadium Melawati in Shah Alam to be canceled, claiming her sexiness would taint the Muslim month of Syawal.

Committee chairman Hafez Sabri said, "The presence of the American-born singer, who is synonymous with sexy appearances, would tarnish the sanctity of the month of Syawal which is being celebrated in earnest and further stoke the hedonistic culture among the country's youths."

Selangor's chief minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, meanwhile, said the state government had no reason to prohibit Selena's show on July 25 from proceeding as the organizers meet all the requirements set by local authorities. The concert will still go on despite the protest.

According to Azmin, sex appeal was not an attribute that should be maligned. "Sexiness is God's creation and subjective, do not be over excited by it, most (of her fans) are drawn by the song lyrics delivered by the particular singer," he said.

The chief minister said there was no issue with holding the concert in the month of Syawal, adding that every month should be equally respected.

Selena's rep hasn't commented on the issue yet. The "Hands to Myself" hitmaker is slated to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 23.
