A new trailer for Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" has landed online. The trailer released by Paramount Pictures features new footage from the upcoming movie and Rihanna's new song "Sledgehammer", which is set as the official soundtrack of the "Star Trek Into Darkness" sequel.

One particular scene shows Chris Pine's Captain Kirk filing his last report as captain of the Enterprise. "My dad joined Starfleet because he believed in it," Kirk tells Bones (Karl Urban) in the beginning of the trailer, "I joined on a dare." Another scene also features a shot of Kirk's late father, George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth).

There's also a glimpse of the Enterprise crew being attacked by a wave of mysterious space creatures. "We're overwhelmed by something. Something we've never seen before," Kirk is heard saying in voiceover, "I know this isn't the last of my crew, but this is my last report as the captain of the star ship Enterprise."

"Star Trek Beyond" follows the crew of the USS Enterprise exploring the furthest reaches of uncharted space. Halfway into their five-year mission, they are attacked by a wave of unknown aliens, forcing them to abandon their ship. Stranded on an unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, the crew find themselves in conflict with a new and ruthless enemy.

Also starring Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella and Joe Taslim, the film is coming to U.S. theaters on July 22.
