'X-Men: Apocalypse' Sequel to Take Place in 90s, Prof. X to Join 'New Mutants'

The next 'X-Men' installment seems to pick up where the 80s-set 'Apocalypse' left off while Charles Xavier will be brought back for the spin-off.

AceShowbiz - As "X-Men: Apocalypse" is heading to theaters, chatters about the next installment and possible spin-off begin. Producer Simon Kinberg teases during a press conference at the "Apocalypse" premiere that the sequel will be set in the 90s.

The first "X-Men" movies were set in the early 2000 before it got revamped with "X-Men: First Class" which returned to the 60s. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" later chronicled the events in 1970s before Apocalypse wreaked havoc in 1980s.

As Mystique and Wolverine are leaving the franchise soon, 20th Century Fox hopes to bring in new characters through a spin-off called "The New Mutants". Kinberg confirms that Prof. X will appear in the spin-off that is rumored to feature Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunspot, Magik and Warlock. %cMaisie Williams% and %cAnya Taylor-Joy% are reportedly eyed for the flick.
