Cody Simpson finally broke his silence on Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik's relationship. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, April 3, the 19-year-old singer said that he's "taking a little time" for himself after he split from the 20-year-old model.
"It's just kind of the natural way things go. You're going to expect that kind of stuff," the "La Da Dee" singer said. Judging from what he said, it seems like Cody has moved on from Gigi and now he's focusing on his career and music. "I've kind of been going a different way, taking a little time for myself just hanging out and keeping it low key, and working on my music," he added.
Cody then explained how he dealt with his break-up from Gigi. "I'm writing a lot about the development of a growing man," he said, adding that his split inspired him as a songwriter. "Developing your own sort of personal philosophies, ideologies, perspective on the world and everything - just kind of really trying to sort of understand myself. And I think the best kind of works and lyrical content come from your most solitary moments," he added.
He also said that he was happy for what Gigi had achieved as of now and he was impressed with her hard work. "But I'm always very happy for her and her career and that type of stuff. I know how hard she's always worked to kind of get to the point in the modelling industry that she's at now, and I couldn't be more proud of her. We still talk every now and then. It's nice," Cody continued.
