AceShowbiz - Cody Simpson has opened up about his high-profile relationships with Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Miley Cyrus. The Australian singer-songwriter shared insights into his romantic past during a conversation on the We Need to Talk podcast on March 10.
Cody Simpson was Kylie Jenner’s first serious relationship. The pair initially met at the 2011 premiere of Twilight: Eclipse. "[I] think I asked her for her number there and we started talking," Cody Simpson recalled. Their relationship lasted roughly a year.
"I think we just bonded through being in these unique situations," Cody Simpson reflected. "It was nice to relate to somebody at that age in that world." He explained, "My school was like Hollywood in a way. I was homeschooled, so the only way I could meet people was literally at the Twilight premiere or at one of my shows."
In 2013, Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid began a relationship that he later described as his first true love. Their on-again, off-again relationship spanned about two years. "This is gonna sound so stupid, but I cold-called her," he admitted. "I said, 'Hey, it’s Cody, I’m a musician. I’m doing this music video. I was calling to ask if you want to be in it.' There was no music video." After a few texts, they arranged to meet and started spending time together.
Reflecting on their connection, Cody Simpson mused, "The universe brings people together when they're supposed to be together. We were supposed to be together when we were and learnt stuff from each other."
Several years later, Cody Simpson found love again with singer Miley Cyrus. Their relationship began around 2019 and lasted until 2020. "We used to go and party together and hang out," he said. "We connected and bonded through rebelling from being in that teen pop stardom thing."
Reflecting on their time together, he said, "We were very much meant to be together at that time. We were kind of exploring what the hell we'd just been through. I'll always be grateful for that."
