He finally puts a ring on it! Maria Menounos and her longtime boyfriend Keven Undergaro are getting married! They got engaged live on Howard Stern's radio show. Undergaro proposed to the E! host while she's doing an interview to promote her latest book "The EveryGirl's Guide to Cooking".
"At the end of the day, Keven and I are partners in life," Menounos said. As the conversation switched from food to romance, Stern gave the mic to Undergaro to say "something." "Are you about to propose to me?" she asked. "I'm going to die. Oh my God, it felt like he was about to propose right now."
"It was so emotional to hear you say everything, because listening to everything you said there, back when we're in the green room talking about what you've been through, I've been through, too...when we wanted to be together, we couldn't because people didn't want us together," he said. "It was literally like the last 17 or 18 years of us fighting [to be] together, and me defending her as best I could."
"It reminds me just how much I do love you, and although I said that this isn't a proposal, I want to ask you something," he continued. "Would you make me the happiest man on earth and would you marry me?" "Are you friggin' kidding me right now?" she asked. "Is this a joke?"
"It's not a joke," he said. "This I wouldn't joke about. I love you so much and this show's meant so much to both of us. It was the first thing we listened to together, 19 years [ago] in that basement on a twin mattress, and I said, 'One day you will be on that show, and you will be a star.' And here you are, and here we are, and it's like, why not make it official now? Will you honey? Will you accept?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Oh, my gosh! Of course! I can't believe this is happening!" the TV personality replied. "This is so beautiful and I hate engagement rings!" Her new fiance said Stern's wife helped him pick out the engagement ring. "After 19 years, it's about f**king time with you two," the radio host said to his two guests.
When Maria Menounos and Kevin Undergaro first started dating, her family disapproved. "He wasn't Greek," she said in 2014. "My dad was very upset, pretty much disowned me, took my education away." But they have reconciled. Undergaro even asked her father for her hand in marriage before the proposal and they were later brought in to the studio to celebrate their engagement.
