Demi Lovato Has Pretty Harsh Response to Taylor Swift's Donation to Kesha
Celebrity

Shortly after news broke that Swift donated $250,000 to Kesha, Lovato said on Twitter, 'Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed.'

AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato wasn't impressed by the way Taylor Swift supported Kesha, formerly Ke$ha, amid her legal battle with Dr. Luke. Shortly after it's revealed that the country-turned-pop superstar made $250,000 donation to the "Tik Tok" singer, the former Disney darling appeared to be criticizing her in a Twitter post.

"Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed," Lovato wrote without naming anyone in particular on late Sunday night, February 21. She, however, didn't stop there.

An Instagram user who goes by ProudOfSwift posted a screen capture of Lovato's tweet and wrote, "The fact that Demi took the attention off of the REAL issue which is Kesha and put it on her and what seems to be a new 'rivalry' really shows her true character."

The post didn't go unnoticed by the "Stone Cold" singer, who responded in the comment section, writing, "How the f**k am I making this about myself? At least I'm talking about it. Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn't grow up with money and def haven't made as much as her. At least I speak up about s**t that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7."

"There's no 'rivalry' I just give more f**ks than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person," she continued and explained that her comments weren't a shade directed at Swift.

"I didn't shade Taylor. If you take it that way then fine. I'm just tired of seeing women use 'women empowerment' and 'feminism' to further brands without actually being the ones that have the uncomfortable conversations. I get shade and I don't give a f**k because someone has to be the one to take it. At least I'm getting my hands dirty," she added.

Lovato showed support to Kesha after a judge denied to release her from her contract with Dr. Luke by urging women to speak up for themselves. In a series of tweets she posted over the weekend, she wrote, "Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action. I'm ready for women to be taken just as seriously as men... I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights."
