'Avatar 2', 'Wolverine 3', 'Transformers 5' Start Dates Revealed

'Avatar' will begin production this April despite not having a release date yet while the fifth 'Transformers' movie will kick off production in May.

AceShowbiz - The sequel to "Avatar" is still happening. Start date of its production has been unveiled along with the kick-off dates for "The Wolverine 3", "Transformers 5" and "Fifty Shades Darker".

"Avatar 2" is set to begin shooting in April, around Tax Day, in New Zealand. James Cameron is back directing the sequel from a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. %cSam Worthington%, %cZoe Saldana% and %cSigourney Weaver% are set to reprise their roles. The film was initially set for Christmas 2017 release but sources told The Wrap that the movie wouldn't make it in time and therefore would be released sometime in 2018.

Meanwhile, "The Wolverine 3" is still aiming for March 3, 2017 release. The production will be kick started on April 25 in both New Orleans and New Mexico. %cHugh Jackman% returns as the mutant, playing opposite %cPatrick Stewart% as Charles Xavier. James Mangold is directing from a script by David James Kelly.

"Transformers 5" will begin production in May but location has not been announced. Michael Bay returns as director with the script written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan. %cMark Wahlberg% is set to reprise his role in the sequel which is yet to have a release date.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel is scheduled to begin production this month for Valentine's Day 2017 release. The original cast %cJamie Dornan% and %cDakota Johnson% will star opposite new addition %cKim Basinger%.

"Prometheus" sequel "Alien: Covenant" will begin production in April in Sydney, Australia. Ridley Scott is directing "Covenant", and %cMichael Fassbender% is set to return. The second "Prometheus" movie is set to hit theaters October 6, 2017.

"Blade Runner 2" is aiming for July principal photography in U.K. and Hungary. %cRyan Gosling% and %cHarrison Ford% are set to star under the direction of Denis Villeneuve. Last but not least, "Ghost in the Shell" will begin production this month in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai, China. Rupert Sanders is directing the live-action adaptation of the manga series while %cScarlett Johansson% and %cSam Riley% are attached to star in the March 31, 2017 film.
