While Hugh Jackman has clearly expressed that he won't be back to reprise his role as Wolverine after "The Wolverine 3", "X-Men Apocalypse" director Bryan Singer and producer Simon Kinberg shared some information about whether or not they would recast the character in the future. In an interview with DigitalSpy to talk about the follow-up to "X-Men: Apocalypse", Singer and Kinberg hinted that recasting the clawed mutant in the future seemed to be kind of impossible.

The duo said that they couldn't imagine that the iconic character would be played by someone other than Jackman, though they actually want to keep the character going in the "X-Men" universe. "I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward," Kinberg said. "Honestly, I can't imagine anybody else playing the part, and there's not too many characters I can say that for," he added.

Singer and Kinberg were also asked about the possibility of Wolverine appearing in "X-Men: Apocalypse". "I can't talk about that," Singer responded to the question.

This means Singer and Kinberg have limited choice. They have to persuade Jackman to stick around after the third Wolverine solo movie, or if they really recast the character in the future, they will probably need an all-new cast.
