One 'Friend' Apologizes for Not Attending NBC Special Reunion

'This is not the reunion people have been hoping for,' a representative for the actor squashed hopes that all six will be on the same scene.

AceShowbiz - It's not so much a reunion of "Friends" as it was suggested by NBC at the Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday, January 13. One of the cast is not coming to the special honoring director James Burrows because of another commitment.

The network said in its presentation that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were scheduled to appear in the February 21 special. While the network's chief Bob Greenblatt said it could be difficult to bring them together at the same time, Paul Telegdy, who is involved in the project, said that all of them would be participating in some capacity.

Sadly, one friend is not coming. Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the sitcom, said via his representative Lisa Kasteler in an email Thursday that he wouldn't attend the reunion in person. "Matthew will not be attending as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, 'The End of Longing', which begins previews on Feb. 2 at the Playhouse Theatre. NBC executives were aware of this prior to their TCA announcement yesterday," Kasteler wrote.

But not all hopes are lost. "Matthew may tape something for the tribute. In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for," the rep continued.
