Hardy, Branagh and Mark Rylance are in negotiations to star in Nolan's upcoming drama inspired by Operation Dynamo, 'Dunkirk'.

Following rumors about Christopher Nolan's untitled new project, Variety has confirmed that the filmmaker's next directorial project is "Dunkirk". The site adds that Nolan will direct the movie from his own original script and eyes the likes of Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance to star in the upcoming film.
There is no word yet on what characters the trio will play if they really sign the deal. If Hardy ends up starring in the movie, it will mark the third time that the actor has collaborated with Nolan. Previously, he worked with Nolan on "Inception" and "The Dark Knight Rises".
"Dunkirk" will be a World War II drama which is inspired by Operation Dynamo, the miraculous evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and other Allied soldiers from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, France between May 24 and June 4, 1940, during World War II. The eight-day evacuation saved the lives of more than three hundred thousand soldiers. Nolan will also produce the film with wife Emma Thomas, his longtime producing partner.
Filming is expected to commence in May 2016, with the hope to release the movie in the U.S. on July 21, 2017. Nolan with his brother Jonathan had reportedly visited Dunkirk, France to do a location scout.
