Many have expected that Mark Wahlberg, who starred in "Transformers: Age of Extinction", will reprise his role in "Transformers 5". The speculation turns out to be true as the actor himself has confirmed that he will return as Cade Yeager for the fifth installment of "Transformers" movie series.
In an interview with CinePop, the "Ted" actor was asked whether he would return as the leading character for the next "Transformers" movie, and he firmly confirmed it by saying "yes." Cade is a Texas inventor and mechanic who was also very protective of his daughter, Nicola Peltz's Tessa Yeager. Along with his family, Cade engaged in a war between Autoboots and Decepticons.
The sequel to "Age of Extinction" has tapped "Iron Man" scribes Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan to pen the script. There is no confirmed storyline yet, but the film is believed to take place on both earth and in space, as Optimus Prime hunts down the Quintessons. The fifth film is reportedly Optimus Prime's final movie, because he will be replaced by Ultra Magnus. Decepticons like Cyclonus, Galvatron and Unicorn are expected to appear in the upcoming movie as well.
The franchise's director, Michael Bay, is expected to return to director's chair, but he hasn't officially confirmed. The fifth "Transformers" film is expected to be released in the U.S. in 2017.
