The approximately two-and-a-half-minute video focuses on the main villain Apocalypse, who calls himself 'Ra, Krishna, Yahwe.'

AceShowbiz - The first official trailer for "X-Men: Apocalypse" has arrived online for viewing pleasure. The approximately two-and-a-half-minute video focuses on the 5,000-year-old Egyptian mutant, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who's the first and most powerful mutant in "X-Men" universe.

The snippet opens with Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) who sees "the end of the world" in her dream. The video continues with a man in a black cape, who later reveals himself as Apocalypse, saying, "I've been called many things among many lifetimes. Ra, Krishna, Yahwe."

"Ever since the world found out about mutants there have been secret societies who see them as some kind of second coming or sign of God," Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) tells Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Havok (Lucas Till), "They believe that tends of thousands of years ago, an ancient being was born, the world's first [mutant]."

The trailer continues with Apocalypse telling all the mutants, "You are all my children and you're lost because you follow blind leaders, but I am here now. I am here for you."

"Wherever this being was, he always had four followers he would imbue with power," Moira continues. "Like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse," Havok replies, "He got that one from the Bible." Moira adds, "Or the Bible got it from him."

"Everything they've built will fall. And from the ashes of their world, we'll build a better one," says Apocalypse as the video shows the X-Men trying to stop the villain's plans to destroy the world.

In an interview with Empire, director Bryan Singer breaks down the first trailer. He says of Jean Grey, "Her hair makes her a little strange looking! But I don't want to explain why she's doing what she's doing. It's all about their potential. Jean has a special connection with Xavier, she has a special connection with the psychic world and she has enormous untapped power that's growing."

Bryan then comments on the scene where Apocalypse calls himself "Ra, Krishna, Yahwe." He says, "What is a God? Why would someone create and rule over a race simply to be worshipped? It bears no respect or devotion to him that's the big giant ego of the old God. All of it lacks symmetry, order and devotion to him. It needs to be culled. It needs to be wiped away and rebuilt again."

The director says of Apocalypse, "I like that you just see bits and pieces. It forces you to look at not just his face, but his costume, the scale, the strangeness, the inscription, the technology. It makes you want to lean around the corner to get a better look." He also addresses the criticisms of Apocalypse's look. "That was a picture. He's a very powerful and imposing character and Oscar acts the shit out of it."

Following the trailer debut, Bryan shares on Instagram the first official character poster for "X-Men: Apocalypse" featuring the titular villain along with tagline, "Only the Strong Will Survive".
