AceShowbiz - There's a chance "The L Word" is back on screen as a reboot. The show's creator Ilene Chaiken, who is currently running FOX's high-rated series "Empire", is open to the idea of revisiting the lesbian characters' story.
Chaiken appeared for an interview with EW Radio on Friday, December 4. During the talk, she was asked whether she wanted to reboot the series and do a crossover with "Empire". She told EW's Henry Goldblatt, "I would love to revisit 'The L Word'. We talk about it from time to time. I talk about it with some of my colleagues who were in the cast who would love to reboot it. I don't know when. I'm busy and most of them are too, but I do still think that it's a viable world in which to tell stories, and those characters are still beloved as far as I can tell."
"The L Word" premiered in 2004 and ran for six seasons. It helped shape and affirm LGBT landscape on television that primetime networks would now portray the community in various shows like "Glee" and "Pretty Little Liars".
Jennifer Beals, who fronted the series, starred on TNT's series "Proof" before it got canceled earlier this year. Laurel Holloman dedicated her time to painting, Mia Kirshner was part of Syfy's now-canceled "Defiance" series, Leisha Hailey concentrated on touring with her band Uh Huh Her while Katherine Moennig is a star on Showtime's hit "Ray Donovan".
With the success of "Empire", Chaiken was also receptive on the idea of having Moennig's character coming to Empire Entertainment. "I would love that. She could come and hang," Chaiken said with a laugh.
