The 'Rabbit Hole' star was named best actress for her performance in 'Photograph 51' while the Scottish actor won best actor for his role in 'The Ruling Class' remake.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman and James McAvoy were two big names among the winners at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London on Sunday, November 22. The two were awarded the top prizes at the awards show.

Kidman was named best actress for portraying her role as scientist Rosalinf Franklin in play "Photograph 51". The play, which centered on the scientist initiating research about DNA's double helix structure, ran at the Noel Coward Theater.

At the event, Kidman paid tribute to her late father. "I did this for him... He would give me the strength to do this every night," she said of her father. The wife of Keith Urban also thanked director Michael Grandage. "You made this happen. You convinced me to come back here after 17 years," she shared. "You found a new play and you made it all possible and you made it possible with such elegance and ease."

Meanwhile, McAvoy took the award for best actor for his role in a revival of "The Ruling Class". He starred as an aristocrat who believes he is the Messiah, a role Peter O'Toole took in the 1972 film. The play was directed by Jamie Lloyd and ran at Trafalgar Studios.

Other winners at the event were Robert Icke, who was named best director for his work in "Oresteia", and Imelda Staunton, who won the award for musical performance for her role as Mama Rose in "Gypsy".
