The former 'West Wing' star was called 'insensitive' and 'atrocious' after commenting on president Francois Hollande's speech.

AceShowbiz - Rob Lowe came under fire after making comments on Twitter about the recent Paris shootings. The "Californication" star was deemed "heartless" and "insensitive" in his comments, but he was quick to defend himself against the critics.
Just hours after the Friday, November 13 night attack that killed more than 100 people, Lowe commented on president Francois Hollande's decision to close the French borders. "Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande," Lowe wrote. "This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given #Hollande," he said about Hollande's televised speech.
One of Lowe's followers hit back, calling his tweet "the worst tweet of all time". His words were considered "atrocious" and "inconsiderate" among others and that he was "vilifying refugees" with his comments. "Disgusting, vile, inhumane. These will be the words that come to mind when people think of you after that tweet," one Twitter user wrote to Lowe.
Lowe explained that he did not mean to be offensive when using "Vive La France" aka "Long Live France!" He tweeted, "Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase 'Vive La France' is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don't misinterpret my words." Thinking his tweets were blown out of proportion, Lowe recalled, "Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love."
